Real Estate Blog:

If you haven’t noticed already, there have been new rental projects cropping up all over Chicago. What sets these River West luxury apartments apart from the others is their trendy industrial-urban design that draws from Chicago influences.

Kenect connects new and old. It conveniently connects residents to just about anywhere they want to go. It connects people to people too.

Kenect has set its roots off the 6 corners of Halsted, Grand and Milwaukee. The three major streets united were the inspiration for the letter “K” in Kenect and can be seen as a design thread throughout Kenect’s two towers.

The Outside View

With 227 units in two staggered towers, these River West apartments take command at 504 & 505 N Green Street. Kenect balances a mix of old and new, combining exposed concrete with sleek and modern finishes.

The first tower is a 14-story high-rise which opened the summer of 2016. The second is a 4-story mid-rise just across the street on Green that debuted last fall. There’s also 14,000 square feet of commercial space between them that’s being developed.

While you’re soaking in the aesthetics of the building, take a big whiff. Do you smell it? Yes…it’s chocolate…from the nearby Blommer Chocolate Factory in West Loop. That’s how close River West is to West Loop.

Designed to Celebrate Chicago

Urban designer Pappageorge Haymes paid homage to the soul of the neighborhood by commissioning local Chicago street artists Hebru Brantley and JC Rivera to paint large wall murals in the common areas.

Chicagoan Hebru Brantley has work featured throughout the world. With his nods to gritty urban life, Brantley weaves in his own relationship to Marvel comics and hip-hop music. The artist has quickly risen, collaborating with Nike, Adidas and Chicago native, Chance the Rapper, to name a few. His work has been collected by Jay Z and the Pritzker Family. Love his work, but can’t afford his original pieces? Check out his store and grab a tee.

JC Rivera is an artist based out of Chicago known famously for his character The Bear Champ, a great reminder of our everyday struggle and fighting for what we believe in. You may have seen his work on the streets of Chicago, from Pilsen to The Loop to Wicker Park. JC has also collaborated with some favorite Chicago artists like Matthew Hoffman’s “You Are Beautiful Campaign” and has work featured in local spaces like Galerie F and  All Star Press.

Specializing in breakfast and lunch, the Iguana was founded in 1998 in Sparta, Greece. It relocated to Chicago in 2000. Though you might expect such a top-notch establishment to be stuffy, it’s far from it. The ambiance is as authentic as the menu.

Appetizers like the Hummus Plate and Tirokafter will tantalize your tastebuds while you await a Pasta Al Forno or wrap. Don’t forget to order up a Martini too and top it all off with a signature dessert waffle.

Highly acclaimed on the menu are mouth-watering dishes like Chicken-Fried Lobster Tail, Bone-In Ribeye, Fish Tacos and the notorious Dawson Burger.

Dawson City Limits is not to be missed. Every Sunday from June through August, come rain or shine, you can enjoy live music on the patio from 4-7pm. There’s never a cover charge.

Piccolo Sogno

Around the corner from Kenect, this rustic Italian gem features Ex Coco Pazzo chef Tony Priolo and vino pro Ciro Longobardo’s. Piccolo Sogno, or “little dream,” offers one of the most ideal outdoor dining areas in the city, if not the country.

Featuring authentic Italian fare, you can’t go wrong with any of their wood burning fire pizzas, but the Margherita is an overall favorite. From fresh pasta to stuffed squash blossoms to roasted duck and braised rabbit, you’ll be impressed with Piccolo Sogno’s marriage of flavors and pairings with their extensive wine selection.
