About One East Delaware Apartments
One of our favorite luxury apartment communities in the Gold Coast, One East Delaware is as polished as the neighborhood itself. The building opened in 1988 and recently underwent an extensive renovation. Located on the corner of State Street and Delaware, the building stands 36-stories and holds 304 apartments.
What makes One East Delaware one of the best apartments in Gold Coast?
You know what they say – location, location, location. One East Delaware is in such an incredible part of downtown Chicago. Not only do you get the mega-charm that the Gold Coast offers, but you’re within walking distance of practically everything. Rent an apartment at One East Delaware and you can stroll to shopping on Michigan Avenue, the shores of Lake Michigan, the best restaurants in Chicago and so much more.
When One East Delaware’s apartments went through their renovation, the units went from outdated 80s to city chic. The popcorn ceilings and closed-in floor plans were replaced with new everything – flooring, appliances, cabinetry and more. Just two recognizable features remained, and they might be my favorite features of all – the beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows and the private balconies. Yes, each apartment has its own balcony.
The shared spaces at One East Delaware were also expanded during the renovation, and all reside on the sixth floor. The cozy lounge space, complete with a fireplace, is a perfect spot to curl up with a good book. If you need to entertain, the chic party room has ample seating, a catering kitchen and a pool table. There’s also a fitness center and coworking space with a private conference room.
Outside, residents can chill on the outdoor terrace. This space is beautiful and an awesome spot to entertain your friends during Chicago’s summer months. Grab a lounge chair next to the reflection pool and soak in the sunshine. When the sun sets, cozy up around the gas fire pit and enjoy a night under the stars.
But the amenities you just may use the most are the conveniences located on the ground level of One East Delaware – both a Starbucks and Potash Market. Imagine grabbing your morning chai tea or last-minute dinner ingredient by simply walking downstairs. Rent at One East Delaware, and you can get through a cold Chicago winter without ever leaving home.
The Neighborhood
One East Delaware is in Chicago’s most charming neighborhood – the Gold Coast. Oozing with history and quaint, tree-lined streets, the Gold Coast is one of downtown’s most coveted neighborhoods to rent an apartment in.
When you live at One East Delaware, you get to call this brag-worthy neighborhood home. And, you’ll have other awesome neighborhoods – like Streeterville, River North and Old Town – within arm’s reach.
Restaurants near One East Delaware Apartments
Gold Coast is one of my favorite spots in downtown Chicago to grab a bite to eat, and they’re all close to One East Delaware. From upscale dining to dive bars, you’ve got them all. My favorite hotspots include:

- Gibson’s Bar and Steakhouse: Gold Coast’s iconic steak joint
- Le Bar: Great cocktails just a block from One East Delaware
Transportation Options
If you want to rent at One East Delaware, but need to commute to work or school, nearby transit options make it easy. The CTA Red Line runs right outside the building, and the Chicago station is just a three-minute walk south. Hop on the train, and you’re in the Loop in mere minutes! If the bus is more your jam, there’s a stop right outside One East Delaware’s front doors.
Parks and Recreation
Chicago’s famous for its great urban green spaces, not to mention the miles of lakeshore that skim the edge of downtown. One East Delaware’s residents can enjoy walking to several parks and recreational areas nearby:
- Washington Square Park: Just a block west, this three-acre park is a perfect spot to read a book on a warm spring day.
- Connors Park: This cute little park is tiny, but packs a punch. Argo Tea is right in the center, creating a sweet refuge to sit and sip.
- Oak Street Beach: My favorite beach in downtown Chicago, it’s just a half-mile walk from One East Delaware.
Universities and Employers
One East Delaware’s central location is super-close to two of the city’s best universities, making is a great place to rent if you’re a student at Loyola or Northwestern’s downtown campuses.
