Get to Know Fulton River
Located just off the bustle of downtown, apartments in Fulton River come in all shapes and sizes. Living in Fulton River means you’re close to the top-notch dining experiences of the West Loop. Randolph Street is where you’ll find Girl and the Goat (from Chef Stephanie Izard, who was the first female Top Chef winner) and Au Cheval (rumored to have the best burgers in the city) along with tons of other hotspots.
Nightlife
For nightlife, you can cross the river to take advantage of all that River North has to offer, or you can stay on your side of the tracks and check out Grand Ave, a quaint, cool area with bars and restaurants with easy access to the CTA Blue Line. You’ll come across a Chicago legend in La Scarola (a fantastic neighborhood Italian joint). But you’ll also find some new favorites like the Dawson and Piccolo Sogno. Both places have gorgeous patios and are perfect for date nights—the Dawson is casually trendy and Piccolo Sogno gives off a more romantic vibe.
Fun Fact
Chicago’s first railroad depot–for the Galena & Chicago Union Railroad–was built at the corner of W. Kinzie and N. Canal Streets in 1848. The city became a major national rail hub in the years that followed, and it all started right in the Fulton River District.
Landmarks
Fulton River is also a prime location if you want to become a member at the East Bank Club. Locals love this luxurious city club and workout facility. It’s pristine—and gigantic—and will keep you in shape all year round. Take advantage of an indoor running track, multiple indoor and outdoor pools, indoor tennis courts, an indoor golf center, a spa, restaurants, and more. It’s been said that Chicago icon Oprah used to work out here. If Oprah approves it, you know it’s good.
Transit
If you’re in need of public transportation, you’ll have access to the CTA’s Blue, Green, and Pink Lines from this neighborhood, which means it’s easy to get almost anywhere in the city. There’s a Jewel for your grocery shopping needs, and you can find gourmet options a little further south at the French Market, an indoor food court and market attached to Ogilvie Transportation Center.
