All aboard! Construction on Alta Grand Central, the brand new luxury apartments in Chicago’s South Loop, is moving along at full steam. As the building progresses, it’s easy to see that this place is going to be as spectacular as anticipated.
Situated at 207 W Harrison St on the northwest corner of Wells & Harrison, the building is transforming the historical Chicago Grand Central Station grounds. Once one of the busiest, most important train stations in the country, the Alta Grand Central Apartments will revitalize an area that has been sitting empty for decades.
The new riverside apartments in South Loop are creatively designed combining two sleek glass-encased 14-story towers that meet in the middle for some serious social space.
The 346 upscale rental units will feature floor-to-ceiling windows to fully embrace the impressive cityscape view. Private balconies will also grace many of the rentals.
The engineering and design of these downtown Chicago luxury apartments are brought to you by some of the best, most renowned professionals in the industry.
Chicago’s D2 and Atlanta-based Wood Partners are collaborating on the development, while Pappageorge Haymes Partners is responsible for the design. The team recently completed the celebrated 33-story luxurious Elle Apartments just south of Alta Grand Central.
First-Class Amenities Anticipated
We can’t wait to get a glimpse into the details of the inside but you can bet it will be stunning. Judging from their past productions, the amenities will no doubt be astounding too.
We are expecting that Alta Grand Central will be just as pet-friendly as most apartments in South Loop. With Grant Bark Park just a bone’s throw away, Fido will feel right at home.
In the Neighborhood
Just a block from the 90/94 on/off ramp, the location is one of the major corridors to the suburbs. Two years ago this area was merely a vacant lot but now it’s part of the exciting new Southbank redevelopment. It’s about a 6-minute walk to the long-vacant Old Post Office, which is undergoing a renovation of its own to house 2.5m square feet of commercial space. Walgreens has already signed on with several other players right behind it. Uber is considering moving there as well. The 800 million dollar project will even include a water taxi stop.
