RIVER WEST
APARTMENTS FOR RENT

Situated in a great location, River West apartments for rent are in high demand. Many of these apartments have an urban-chic decor complete with gas fireplaces, wall-to-wall windows and refurbished wood accents. Others adopt this modern, rugged loft aesthetic by incorporating exposed brickwork and a grayscale color palette.

DINING

Apartments for rent in River West are close to some dining and nightlife gems. Jerk Modern Jamaican Chicken is a popular food truck turned restaurant that’s big on flavor, and The Matchbox is an intimate train car turned bar at the Silver Palm restaurant. If you’re a coffee lover, don’t miss Big Shoulders. It’s a must-visit coffee shop—one of the best in the city. I think we’re morally obligated to tell you that there’s a Marshmallow Latte on the menu. (Your mornings just got a lot better.)

LANDMARKS

The Chicago River cuts through River West, and if you take the architectural river cruise (a must for locals and tourists alike!), you’ll learn a lot more about this historic section of the city. The river is lined with large buildings that used to house big shots like Montgomery Ward & Company, but now Groupon calls one of these buildings home.

During Open House Chicago, an annual event in September put on by the Chicago Architecture Foundation, the public is invited to walk through architecturally-significant spaces in the city. Groupon headquarters is often included in the weekend-long tour. Inside, you’ll see a Hobbit House and a tiki bar among other weird but awesome improvements to the traditional office space.

Transit

Renting in River West means you’re conveniently located on the CTA’s Blue Line at the Chicago stop. Going south on the El Train, you’re only minutes away from the center of downtown, including River North, West Loop and even South Loop. At the Clark and Lake stop, you’re within walking distance from theaters, shopping, dining, the Chicago River, and Millennium Park. Not bad!

The Chicago stop is also where you’ll find the Chicago Avenue bus, a main artery of the city’s public transportation. A 20-minute bus ride is all it takes to travel east all the way to Navy Pier. On the way, you’ll pass the Museum of Contemporary Art, the John Hancock Center, Water Tower Place, and more.
