Niche 905 has Come Alive and is Move-In Ready

There’s a new kid in town!  The much anticipated Niche 905 made its debut in mid-March and is ready to rock and roll.

Niche 905 is waking up the sleepy, almost forgotten, corner of North Orleans and Walton. Its energetic vibes are fun, fresh and exciting and…have a hint of sophistication in the mix too.

I’ve been keeping a close watch as “The Niche” has been in the making. If you’re from the area, maybe you have too.

I’ve tried to imagine what the sleek, somewhat odd, building held in store. I must admit I undershot it, by far. The perky Niche 905 is bursting with life and full of personality. I’m definitely impressed.

The Building

The 18-story, 202-unit luxury boutique high-rise  is located at 905 N Orleans Street, a great location where The Magnificent Mile, River North and Old Town all come together. Talk about energy!

The outside of the building is curious, in a quirky-cool way. Balconies haphazardly jet out of the glass structure in a manner that some say make it  look like a funky (very tall) climbing wall. I half expect to see Spiderman scaling up it at any moment.

The unusual and unexpected, yet sleek and sophisticated, look is one of my favorite things about the place. I think it’s a unique design FitzGerald Associates nailed on this one.

The Inside Scoop

Niche 905 is available in studio, one, two and three bedroom floor plans. They come with wood-like plank flooring, 9-foot ceilings, in-unit washer/dryers (yay!) and signature private walk-out balconies..

Whether you’re whipping up dinner in a rush or skillfully preparing a gourmet meal for guests, you’ll go bananas over the kitchen. They are contemporary and convenient with stainless-steel appliances, gorgeous quartz countertops and glass tile back splashes. Of course you’ll get a dishwasher and microwave too.

The Many Amenities

Brace yourself because some of the perks of this dynamic place are almost unheard of.

As we all know, parking can be a nightmare in the city. Thank goodness, Niche 905 residence doesn’t have to worry about that. There are 152 indoor parking spaces, located on floors 2-4 and 110 bike storage spots (and workshop) too.

You can cancel your gym membership because you’ll have a state-of-the-art workout facility and yoga studio just outside your door.

Be sure to reward yourself with a trip to the coffee bistro where coffee is always on the house.

Up on the roof, you’ll have a 360 degree view of the city while you take a dip in the sky deck pool (yes, please)  or enjoy a cold one while lounging. Might as well fire up the grill and throw a steak on too.

When it’s time to get down to business, Niche 905 has you covered. A fully equipped on-site business center and conference room makes working a breeze. Wi-Fi is available in the common areas and internet is gigabit ready throughout the building.

Invite friends over or meet your neighbors at the spacious entertainment room and lounge.

If you have a wet-nosed, fur-friend rooming in, you’ll be happy to hear that not only is Niche 905 dog-friendly, there’s an outdoor dog run on the property and a pet grooming area too. You can even get dog walking service recommendations from the front desk. Now, that’s pet friendly and then some.

“The Niche” exceeds my expectations in some other areas too. It’s handicap accessible and eco-friendly, LEED certified and smoke free.

Getting Out and About

As if there isn’t enough to do inside the building, if you decide to go out, you’ll be in heaven.

For shopping, Target is walking distance, just a few blocks from the property. Whole Foods and Plum Market are less than a mile away.

If you’re venturing further out, the Brown and Purple Lines are just 0.2 miles away and the Red Line is only 0.5 miles out.

mk The Restaurant

If you’re up for fine dining, mk The Restaurant is one of the best places around. The prices aren’t cheap but neither is the meal.

After almost two decades in business, chef and owner, Michael Komick, has certainly made a name for himself and has repurposed the once paint factory building into a flagship for excellent cuisine.

The meal is magnificent, the atmosphere, very inviting and the wait-staff are super friendly. In my opinion, Mk’s is worth every dime.

Don’t forget to experience their expert wine-pairing and…enjoy!

Brehon Pub

Ten minutes from your doorstep at “The Niche” is Brehon Pub. Don’t wait until St. Patty’s Day to enjoy this Irish charm where every day’s your lucky day.

The lively pub was founded in 1980 by two brothers who were practicing law in Chicago. Brehon law is the ancient Irish legal system, thus, the name.

You’ll find some delicious Gaelic dishes on the menu and great gargle too (Irish slang for alcoholic beverages).

The daily specials are well-worth checking out and Happy Hour is Monday thru Friday, from five to seven. If you’re short on time, duck in for a take out.

Headquarters Beercade

Just three blocks away is Headquarters Beercade, a vintage arcade/bar that matches the energy of Niche 905.

If you like arcade and pinball games like I do (especially the old school kind), you’ll be well entertained because they have over 65 of them to choose from.

Incidentally, Headquarters is big on choice. Twenty-eight rotating drafts and forty canned craft beers grace the bar menu. Ahhh…decisions, decisions.

If you want to grab a bite, they serve lunch and a weekend brunch as well.

Another great thing about Headquarters Beercade is that it’s open everyday, all year round.

Find Your Niche

I’m in love with the way Niche 905 embraces the ever-busy, ever-evolving “work, play, relax modern lifestyle. It’s certainly not the only property in Chicago that does that but it’s the only one that does it the way it does it.

Niche 905 is unique, energetic, full of character and did I mention…brand spanking new? After two years of suspense, it’s finally here.
