Reside on Green Street: Artfully Crafted River West Apartments

Chicago’s River West’s popularity is growing as quickly as the neighborhood itself. An urban, industrial vibe is what you’ll get in this downtown ‘hood, and luxury apartments Reside on Green Street suits its surroundings perfectly.

Situated near the 6 corners of Halsted, Grand and Milwaukee, Reside on Green Street (formerly known as Kenect) is fabulously located for those who work downtown as well as city dwellers who commute to the ‘burbs.

The Outside View

With 227 units in two staggered towers, these River West apartments are located on the corner of Green Street and Grand Avenue. The exterior balances a mix of old and new, combining concrete pillars and sleek reflective glass.

The first tower – a 14-story high-rise – opened in the summer of 2016 (and yes, has incredible views!). Across the street, a 4-story mid-rise debuted just a few months later. The street level houses commercial space, including Stax Cafe, which serves up the best breakfast and brunch in River West.

While you’re soaking in the aesthetics of the building, take a big whiff. Do you smell it? Yes…it’s chocolate…from the nearby Blommer Chocolate Factory in Fulton River District. That’s how close River West is to Fulton Market and nearby West Loop.

Designed to Celebrate Chicago

When creating the interior, urban designer Pappageorge Haymes paid homage to the soul of the River West neighborhood by commissioning local Chicago street artists Hebru Brantley and JC Rivera to paint large wall murals in the common areas. It’s a unique feature and a real treat for residents.

Brantley has work featured throughout the world. With his nods to gritty urban life, he weaves in his own relationship to Marvel comics and hip-hop music. He’s quickly gained notoriety, collaborating with Nike, Adidas and Chicago native, Chance the Rapper, to name a few. His work has been collected by Jay Z and the Pritzker Family. Love his work, but can’t afford his original pieces? Check out his store and grab a tee.

Rivera is an artist based out of Chicago known famously for his character The Bear Champ, a great reminder of our everyday struggle and fighting for what we believe in. You may have seen his work on the streets of Chicago, from Pilsen to The Loop to Wicker Park. JC has also collaborated with some favorite Chicago artists like Matthew Hoffman’s “You Are Beautiful Campaign” and has work featured in local spaces like Galerie F and  All Star Press.
