Grand Plans in the Making for Sleek 24-Story Residential Tower at 37 S Sangamon in West Loop

If all goes as planned, the vacant lot where the old two-story Dunn Safety Products warehouse once stood will be transformed into brand new downtown Chicago luxury apartments

The proposed glassy tower at 37 S Sangamon would reach 300 feet skyward to boast its ultra-modern four-story glass, metal, and masonry base.

Location, Location

Luxury apartments in Chicago’s West Loop have been springing up like wildfire and it’s all about…location! The trendy West Loop is home to Restaurant Row, the French Market Food Hall, shopping on Randolph Street, live music venues, Google Headquarters, McDonald’s Headquarters, and so much more.

It all began as an industrial district, but times have definitely changed. Now, the West Loop is a hip hotspot for dining and entertainment. It’s a place everyone wants to go and the lucky ones get to stay.

37 S Sangamon residence would join several other ventures surrounding West Loops’ Mary Bartelme Park, like Milieu on the Park and a 600-unit tower springing up on 845 W Madison

Development and Design

Sangamonroe LLC is behind the development which is the legal entity associated with the local real estate firm, Free Market Ventures. The Green Door, 6400 Shafer Court, and 17 East Illinois are in their nice-sized portfolio.

Chicago-based GREC Architects is the mastermind behind the design. Past projects include 845 W Madison, Xavier, and One Bennett Park.

Top to Bottom

The glass facade will stretch 24 stories upward to unfold 193 upscale rental units. A sweet 156 parking places are in the mix and 78 bike spaces.

Judging from GREC’s history of designing fantastic properties, we anticipate these apartments to be full of upgrades and that there will be amenities galore.

We also expect the community to be a dog-friendly one and with Mary Barteleme Park just a block over, that will be a real tail-wager for pet parents and their furry roomies.

As developments unfold about the spectacular residence at 37 S Sangamon, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
