It seems there’s always something new going down in Old Town! This time, it’s a nine-story residential project at the corner of Sedgwick and Schiller. These downtown Chicago luxury apartments are going to bring 105 more units to the popular Old Town neighborhood. Let’s take a closer look at what’s behind all of that yellow insulation board!

The New Old Town

Old Town has a character all its own…and always has. Its rich history goes back to the 1850s when it was settled by German immigrants who left their stamp on the culture and architecture.

Today, the neighborhood is appreciated for the charming, tree-lined Wells Street, Victorian-era buildings, and quaint shops sprinkled about. It’s also celebrated for the new – artisan coffee shops, clubs and pubs, and a mix of charming and funky eateries.

Old Town is definitely a hip place to be.

Behind the Building and Blueprints

These new apartments in Old Town are slated to have a very unique look and feel, thanks to the developers and builders, Lakshimi Capital Management, and Chicago’s own Brininstool and Lynch, the award-winning architectural firm responsible for luxury apartments at 1333 S Wabash (South Loop) and The Mason (West Loop).

The project is expected to be available for leasing and move-ins in 2020.

How it All Will Stack Up

At only nine stories tall, what the residence lacks in height, it will more than make up for in the design.

The building will be visually organized by dividing it into three sections with retail and offices on the lower levels, concrete slatted designs in the mid-sections and two top levels that will feature a modern glass and zinc-like metal facade.

An Inside Look

Following the drift of many other luxury apartments in Old Town, the property will feature 105 rentals which will range in size from 500 to 1,100 square feet and include studios, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom units.

There will be a top-floor amenity area with a green roof above it.

Since the property will follow the transit-oriented development trend, there will only be 25 parking spaces, so get your Divvy membership and CTA passes handy.

Just 10-Minutes From the Doorstep

Part of the lure to the Old Town neighborhood is that it’s so convenient to everything. With the CTA Sedgwick Brown and Purple Line just up the street, getting anywhere is a breeze. But with so many nearby attractions, you may be surprised what a mere 10-minute walk will get you.

If you aren’t familiar with Old Town, it is also situated conveniently to the Lincoln Park Zoo, Gold Coast and the beach, making it an ideal location for singles, families, and people who just love to be active.
