North+Vine: Luxury Apartments in a New Old Town Mid-Rise

As a leasing agent, I witness the ever-changing face of Chicago’s landscape on a daily basis and there’s one fantastic neighborhood that continuously blows me away with its focus on new development: Old Town!

Every time I visit this gem of a neighborhood ground is being broken on a new project. Today, I’m excited to introduce Old Town’s newest residential development – North+Vine.

Located between Lincoln Park and the Clybourn Corridor, on North Avenue, this unique luxury mid-rise offers upscale, hotel-style living with finishes and amenities that have my jaw on the floor (and yours will be too!).

Mid-Rise is the New High-Rise

Sure, high-rises are spectacular and we Chicagoans have seen our fair share reach to the skies over the last year (we see you, Nema and Two Old Town Park), but here at North+Vine, you’ll find the same luxury and attention-to-detail in a sleek 11-floor mid-rise – a great option if you’re not into high-rise living, but want all the upscale perks.

A Look at the Units

The trend I’m seeing in the recent high-rise boom is that the market speaks, and designers are listening. There’s a new standard in town, and North+Vine meets it with hardwood floors throughout, oversized windows for maximum light, and upscale finishes and appliances, including a full-size in-unit washer/dryer. (details below)*

On a recent tour of units, there were a few things I noticed right away that made North+Vine special…

Smart Spaces

First things first: The architect’s clever use of space is what caught my eye the moment I stepped through the door. These units don’t feel like apartments, they feel like homes. The width of the hallways, the size, and the spacing of counters, doorways, walls, and windows all make you feel like you’re in a house, not an apartment.

A dozen of us toured the convertible unit together (shown above), and at no time did we feel cramped or crowded. Add wine and pizza, and we could’ve easily spent the day there! Amazing space for a convertible.

Meet Matte

Another noteworthy feature was the use of matte finishes, not just on the cabinets, but also on fixtures like faucets, door hinges, and handles. This subtle detail may seem minor but – it’s the little things that up the elegance factor in these units.

Height Matters

Finally, what really blew me away were the 3rd-floor units boasting ceiling heights of up to 16-feet! Seriously, you can fly a drone in these units! The two-bedroom + terrace corner units definitely drew some gasps during our tour as well. Just look at that natural light.

Closets

Closets are crazy-important, right? Then why, why, why are they often ignored? They certainly aren’t at North+Vine. Even the most standard Studio comes with a walk-in closet; proof that these designers really do get what residents want. These closets are so spacious that you can pocket the cash you’re currently dolling out on a storage unit.

Units + Floor Plans

North+Vine offers studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, two-bedroom penthouse, and three-bedroom penthouse floor plans.

We’re impressed by the stunning Penthouse floor plans – great for families or roommates.

If you’re not in the market for a penthouse, the studio, one and two-bedroom floor plans are very accommodating too.

Building Amenities

Communal Spaces

My hat goes off to the designers for their treatment of the communal and amenity spaces. I’ve spent a lot of time (perhaps too much) in art galleries and hotel lounges all across this city, and the spaces here channel that vibe. I found myself checking signatures on the artwork! The amenities here will really inspire you to stay in and entertain guests at home.

  • Spacious private terrace with fire pits and grilling stations
  • Resort-inspired pool and luxury sundeck
  • Media library equipped with acoustic wall tiles
  • Resident lounge with a chef-inspired kitchen space
  • Cozy library with plenty of space for meeting and working
  • Exclusive Penthouse resident lounge
  • Social room and entertainment lounge with chef’s kitchen

Work lounge and conference room space

I also love that there’s an actual separate library as an amenity here. Reading after a tough workout sounds like a perfect evening to me. All amenity spaces have free, high-speed Wi-Fi so no worries about missing an email from a client while you enjoy these bonus spaces.

Fitness Features

The gym comes complete with all the state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment you need. Designers graced the walls with large, charcoal drawings of athletes in motion. A very inspiring touch. There’s also a yoga and stretch studio with the latest in virtual fitness – Wellbeats.

Pet-Friendly Features

If your roommate has 4-legs and a tail, they’ll be in heaven at North+Vine. With a nice dog-run and pet-pampering spa, this mid-rise joins the ranks with the rest of the uber-dog-friendly luxury apartment buildings in Chicago.

The Neighborhood

All leasing agents will tell you that a given property is “close to everything” because almost all downtown Chicago properties are! But, North+Vine’s neighborhood is, simply put, “poppin'”!

Never mind that you’re less than a mile away from Lincoln Park and North Avenue beach. Forget that both the entrance and exits of Lake Shore Drive and 90/94 are a 5 minute drive, or that you have 2 CTA stops a block away. This neighborhood has all that and so much more! Here’s what you get:

Four amazing options to see movies, theater, and comedy within walking distance:

  • Second City (Comedy)
  • iO Theater (Comedy)
  • Steppenwolf Theater
  • ArcLight Cinemas

The shopping options of the Clybourn Corridor are staggering. Not to mention you have an Apple store two blocks away. For shopaholics, it’s a paradise.

For those who don’t want to spend their weekend shopping, there is such a wide variety of stores, you can get all your shopping needs met and over with before noon on a Saturday. For someone like me, that’s a deal maker!

Also within walking distance is Michelin 3-star rated, Alinea. No big deal (kidding, it’s a really big deal!). Snag a reservation (they book out two months in advance) and wow out-of-town guests for dinner at one of the best restaurants in the country.

After dessert, walk over to Steppenwolf Theater to catch their latest show. Then return home to treat guests to a glass of wine around the fire pit, and have a toast to a most memorable evening. Cheers!

All this and more is not only possible at North+Vine, but it’ll also become your new normal.
